My name’s Matt, and I’m an artist and children's book illustrator from Portland, Oregon. I’m the illustrator of the picture books Cut!, written by CE Winters (Greenwillow / HarperCollins); My Cat Does Ballet, written by Robert Heidbreder (Atheneum / Simon & Schuster); the Cosmic Collisions series by Dr. Marc Kuchner (Candlewick / MIT Press); and Star and the Maestro by Thor Hanson (Greenwillow / HarperCollins). I’m also the illustrator of the chapter books The Tontine Caper by Dianne K. Salerni and The Islands of Elsewhere by Heather Fawcett, among others. I was awarded the Regional Arts and Culture Council‘s Catalyst grant in 2020. I received a degree in art from the University of Oregon in 2015, and worked as a graphic designer before switching focus to book illustration and fine art.
